This antique 1883 edition of The Coming of the Birds is a rare Victorian-era children's book by Elaine Goodale, with illustrations by Alexander Pope.
Published in Boston by S. W. Cassino & Company, this edition features a decorative front cover with a bird motif and a small ribbon closure.

Every auction item is sold “as is, where is” with no guarantees or warranties. You are responsible for inspecting items prior to purchase.

Once you have picked up your item(s) and they have been removed from the auction site, refunds or returns will not be accepted. English Ivy Estate Sellers is not responsible for missing or damaged items after they have been removed from the auction site. Please inspect your items BEFORE leaving the auction premises.

This auction is contracted and managed by an independent affiliate. By placing a bid, you agree to both the auction-specific terms listed on this page and the K-BID User Terms and Agreements.

Platform Role

Bidder Responsibilities

Auction Process

  • Items with a reserve will not sell unless the reserve price is met.
  • Affiliates may lower reserves at any time:
    • During the auction: updated reserve status will be displayed.
    • After closing: the highest bidder may be awarded the item if the reserve is lowered.
  • At closing, items with active bidding will remain open until no bids are received for three (3) minutes.
  • Outbid notifications are not sent once an item enters the closing process.

Compliance & Enforcement
Failure to comply with auction terms, including removal requirements, may result in suspension of bidding privileges.

If bidding privileges are suspended due to unpaid invoices:

  • Reinstatement is at K-BID’s discretion
  • Requires payment of:
    • 20% penalty on unpaid invoice(s)
    • $25 reinstatement fee
  • A valid government-issued ID must be provided
  • Unpaid items will not be awarded

Duplicate accounts will be deactivated. Suspected fraudulent activity may result in bid removal, account holds, or permanent suspension. K-BID reserves the right to refuse service to any user and may refer fraudulent behavior to appropriate authorities.

Seller Conduct
Sellers and their agents are strictly prohibited from bidding on their own items.

  • SHIPPING: If an item is offered as shippable, we will bring the item to a third-party shipping company for you.  We have no control over the fees they may charge.  There are factors that will greatly increase the rate including the size and weight.  i.e. Artwork is expensive to ship because of the size, not the weight.  

    • Due to the cost of shipping, we will not ship an order for a single $20.00 bid or less. 

        If you would like you would like your item shipped:

      1. Invoice for all items to be shipped must be PAID IN FULL.  We will not ship if unpaid.

      2. Text 612-849-1656 with your name, bidder number and the auction title stating please ship my items.  WE MUST HAVE NOTIFICATION BEFORE THE PICKUP TIME CLOSES.

      3. We will bring your item to The UPS Store within 2-3 days after the pickup/removal date.

      4. UPS will email you a separate invoice for shipping your items, please watch your Junk Mail.  The items will not ship until the invoice has been paid.  Please allow 5-10 days for processing time.

      5. Once paid your item will be shipped.

      6) If we are able to do in house shipping, we charge a $15 handling fee for the first lot and $10.00 for each lot after. For one lot of smaller items just as jewelry, the handling fee is less. 

    • IMPORTANT: Shipped items must be transported to a 3rd-party provider, packaged, and shipped separately. Due to the logistics involved with using a 3rd-party shipper, shipping costs typically average $25–$35+ per item, depending on size, quantity, and packaging requirements.
