“Overall, the total auction amount exceeded our expectations and we were very pleased with the results.”

As a newly retired owner of a St. Michael, MN welding company, Tom Jacobson had a decision to make regarding the sale of his business assets. He already understood that an auction would be the most efficient way to for him to clear his building and get the best return for his assets. After meeting with several auctioneers, Tom made the decision to hire Ken Mealman of K & C Auctions to manage the auction and list the items on K-BID.com’s online auction venue.

“I liked Kenny from the beginning, we were a good fit.” Tom stated of his decision to choose K & C Auctions. The auction consisted of more than 400 lots from air compressors and fabrication equipment to the office furniture. K & C Auctions managed the entire auction process with Tom, leaving him with a clear building and a check.

When asked about the results of the auction, Tom stated, “A few items went a little less than anticipated but some items went far above what we expected. Overall, the total auction amount exceeded our expectations and we were very pleased with the results.” Tom still has some residual items that he plans on selling through K & C Auctions in the future.

This auction was a great success for Tom and K & C Auctions. Our network of 170+ independent affiliates manage thousands of similar auctions each year and specialize in efficient and effective asset liquidation.

Separating with a Lifetime of Assets

Written by K-BID on February, 20th 2017
Estate Auction

“LeeAnn educated us on how online auctions can bring more exposure and buyers from all over the country,” Nancy said. “The whole experience was fantastic, I would recommend LeeAnn and Twin Pines to anyone.”

When Roger Anderson passed away in 2016, he left a large estate. His family was feeling his loss keenly and looking through the lifetime of items he had collected was incredibly difficult.

The estate included farm equipment, vehicles, woodworking tools, catering equipment, collectibles and more. His daughter Nancy was juggling taking care of her mother and getting her parents’ home ready for market. She knew they needed to have an estate sale, but didn’t know where to start.

The family turned to LeeAnn VandeKamp of Twin Pines Auctions.

After initially considering a live estate auction, LeeAnn shared with the Anderson family the benefits of taking their auction online.

The challenge:

* A large estate in a small Minnesota town

* The family needed to increase exposure to the hundreds of items in the auction

* Maximize the amount earned from the auction to be used to care for Mom

Here’s how Twin Pines helped:

LeeAnn explained the family could focus their attention elsewhere and that she would use the K-BID platform to conduct an online auction.

The 600 lot auction was viewed by thousands of people and nearly 300 bidders participated, including participants from Chicago, St. Louis and Omaha – hundreds of miles away from their hometown.

And best of all, the auction proceeds far exceeded the amount they’d hoped to raise.

K-BID works:

“LeeAnn educated us on how online auctions can bring more exposure and buyers from all over the country,” Nancy said. “The whole experience was fantastic, I would recommend LeeAnn and Twin Pines to anyone.”

K-BID is proud to partner with problem-solving auctioneers like LeeAnn VandeKamp. She, and auctioneers like her, play a vital role in helping sellers feel comfortable and help make a difficult time easier.

Trust, Compassion and Results

Farm Auction

“The perfect experience; I would recommend K.A.S. to anyone.” - Nancy from Buffalo, MN. :

After the loss of Nancy’s father in January 2017, selling the estate to enable her mother to downsize was the furthest thing from the family’s mind. However, with time came healing and by June the need to make a decision loomed. The family had started researching options when Nancy was referred by a friend to K-BID.com Independent Affiliate K.A.S and Stuff out of Brooklyn Park, MN.

Without much knowledge of the online auction process or K-BID.com, Nancy was pleasantly surprised when Kurt and Doug from K.A.S. sat her mother and the family down to explain their process and what they could expect in the coming weeks. “What really impressed me was how compassionate they were with my mother. They took the time and effort to let her know that she was in charge and made her comfortable by explaining exactly what would happen to her lifetime of possessions.” The family ultimately decided to contract with K.A.S., after which the process moved forward quickly. Within four weeks the estate had been cataloged, photographed, posted online for bidding and the assets removed by the winning bidders.

The auction consisted of 450+ lots of tractors and implements to household items and collectibles. K.A.S. went the extra mile to make sure a marketing campaign was executed to increase the number of bidders participating and achieve the highest return for the family. The auction was a success with more than 700 online bidders participating. More importantly, the family was ecstatic with the services that K.A.S. provided and the prices that the auction achieved.

“I trust those two guys,” was the stamp of approval that Nancy’s mother gave K.A.S. and crew. This trust was solidified when Doug and Kurt found her husband’s wedding ring that had been lost for years while prepping for the auction.

The emotions that come with the loss of a family member can be extremely difficult. K-BID is proud to work with compassionate affiliates like K.A.S. and Stuff to assist families across the Upper Midwest through difficult times like these.

“The auction process with Loretto Equipment was a hands-off, simple solution and was a perfect fit for me.”

Mark is a commercial property manager who was storing excess equipment that he no longer had a use for. Lawn maintenance, tools, trailers and a long list of other items that were no longer needed in his operations were taking up valuable warehouse space.

As a previous bidder on K-BID, Mark researched the auctions on K-BID.com and found an affiliate, Loretto Equipment, who regularly sold similar items. Casey Homberger from Loretto Equipment was quick to respond and get working on Mark’s project. Mark noted how easy Loretto Equipment was to work with and how the hands-off solution was exactly what he was looking for, “Casey was very personable, we clicked right away.”

In all, 166 items were sold in the auction. Loretto Equipment’s custom marketing plan and “No-Reserve” approach reached thousands of potential buyers and maximized bidding activity. Heavy Equipment Auction Recieves Strong Attention

Written by K-BID on April 15, 2018
Equipment Auction

“We need to know the equipment in order to sell it and make sure these buyers are comfortable.”

K-BID affiliate, North Central Services out of Sauk Centre, MN, recently managed one of the largest equipment liquidations on K-BID.com in recent years. Allen Boecker is the owner of North Central Services and has been an independent affiliate of K-BID.com since 2009. In his time as an affiliate of K-BID, Allen has managed hundreds of auctions and has successfully sold millions of dollars of construction equipment, vehicles, and other property.

The auction that closed on March 6th, 2018 was a complete liquidation of an aggregate company out of Willmar, MN. There was a wide variety of assets including bulldozers, loaders, skid steers, conveyors, and excavators. In total, 184 lots were sold to a total of 86 winning bidders with 412 unique bidders participating.

North Central Services’ equipment expertise played a major role in the success of the auction. “Great photography, videos and multiple inspection days are key to a successful online auction. We need to know the equipment in order to sell it and make sure these buyers are comfortable.” Allen noted.

K-BID and North Central Services made a commitment to marketing this auction to potential buyers from all over the country. A comprehensive marketing approach through digital, social media, print, and email avenues allowed the auction to receive more than 500,000 views from 30,000+ unique visitors.

  • Unique Visits to Auction: 30,864
  • New users visiting: 7,149
  • Auction Page views: 501,507

Sell on K-BID

Chris Schwartz, the Marketing Director for K-BID.com stated, “We were very satisfied with the bidder participation in this auction. We know that we are strong with equipment buyers in the Upper Midwest but anticipated some of this specialized equipment would be going out-of-state. It was great to see our efforts pay off with bidders participating from Alaska to Arkansas on this auction.”

In early 2018, K-BID.com implemented a $1,000 buyer’s premium cap to create more competitive bidding on higher value assets and ultimately increase the ending bid price. This new BP cap played an important role in this auction as 22 buyers from the auction were impacted by the change.

North Central Services’ client was thrilled with the results and the smooth auction process. Independent affiliates like Allen have the knowledge and ability to manage auctions and assets of all sizes.
