This beautiful set of 4 wine coolers in its original box is by Regency Silver; The accompanying paper says A Classic Reproduction of Regency Silver; They have a lot of hallmarks on them but I couldn't get a good picture of the hallmarks due to the glare,and they are heavy, but I am assuming they are silverplate-they may very well be silver-I don't know; the inside of the paper says From an original Wine Cooler, Dated 1806 London, England, By Digby Scott and Benjamin Smith; The works of Diby Scott and Benjamin Smith are sought the world-over by collectors of Regency silver.In the early years of the 19th Century, Scott and Smith were among the first of the few Regency silversmiths so highly skilled they were able to "sculpt" silver and thus create works of art. A set of four original Wine Coolers were sold at auction in 1967 or $11,200 or 4,000 pounds. There is no year on this set; they are nearly 3 1/2 inches tall and are new in their box.
