Lot Description:

Gold prices are on the rise!  Yes, this is a pure 22kt gold coin and NOT a replica!

This 1982 box-set features a single gold Proof Half-Sovereign coin. This coin weighs the same as a regular half-sovereign, at 3.99 grams and 22-carat gold (91.67% fineness). This proof has been struck using specially selected blanks and highly polished dies. During striking, the coinage dies exert enormous pressure on the coin blank, with at least two separate blows (or strikes), ensuring that the impression has extra clarity. Complete with its own booklet, and bound in a good looking case.

Made by the UK Royal Mint.  The proof was made in a VERY limited quantity of only 19,090 worldwide and are more expensive than the ordinary uncirculated version.  A PCGS PF70 one of these is selling for $2679 on eBay.  This key date is sold out most places.
