This car has recently been professionally appraised and has been verified to be a #'s matching 1961 Corvette Roadster Roman Red Fuel Injected Hard Top Convertible! (The hard top is removed by removing a few bolts.)
It looks even better in person. This car was meticulously restored back in the 1980's and went on to win a number of 1st place awards at several car shows. It has seen limited use in the past 20 years and looks amazing! The appraiser did point out a couple minor repair needs (listed below). There are a few parts in the trunk and on the passenger floor, including an air box to injector hose. With a car of this caliber, the owner wants to let you know all he can! There is a folder with documentation of some restoration work and repairs.
Excerpts from the appraisal:
"...I am...a specialty car dealer, a former automotive instructor for 34 years, and an avid car collector for more than 50 years. On August 1st, 2014, I met...to inspect his 1961 Corvette, one of 10,939 produced. The car has had an older restoration and needs minor repairs to make it reliable and safe. The engine is a 283 cid, fuel injected, 315hp, one of 1462 produced that year. The engine casting numbers, date codes, and stamped build dates appear to match. The BW-T10 4 speed was built on Dec 19, 1960 and appears to be original. The carrier in the rear axle has a 1963 date so it is not original to the car. The frame and suspension show normal wear considering the restoration was likely done 20 years ago, but the king pins will need to be replaced. Also, the exhaust needs to be realigned and secured as it rattles. The fuel injection unit #7117320 is correct for a 1961 - 316hp vette and has a serial number 2826.
The vehicle has show quality paint and appears to have all original body panels. The car is straight, has nice gaps, and nice chrome. The interior has been redone and is in excellent condition. The car appears to have the original jack, tire iron and spare. ...
There are a few items that need attention right away such as the leaking axle seal at the right rear wheel, inop emergency brake, rattling exhaust and inop right rear tail lights. ... The car is extremely solid and show quality."
Verbally, the appraiser stated that the paint job on the car, were it to be done today, would run $10k+. He also felt that $1200 in minor repairs could add $10k to the value of the car.
In going through some paperwork, we found information showing that the car was insured in 1983 with 86,900 miles. It currently has about 88,5xx miles on it.
The car will be stored off-site and will be driven to and from site on inspection/pickup days. Special times may be available by appointment. Payment for this car will be with certified funds only.
