Auction inspection this Saturday September 8th from 10am-1230pm in North Oaks at the address listed.

Whiteford Auctions is honored to present part 2 of the distinguished estate of General John William Vessey Jr., the tenth Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to President Ronald Reagan.

4 Star General John William Vessey Jr was a native Minnesota, born in Minneapolis in 1922. In 1939, he joined the Minnesota National Guard and was assigned to the 34th Infantry Division. His unit was activated in 1941, in anticipation of U.S. participation in World War II. General Vessey went on to serve honorably and bravely in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. His life of service to the military was justly rewarded when in 1982, General Vessey became the tenth Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the last World War II combat veteran to serve in the position. A Minnesota bill was just passed to Honor this 4 Star General by making June 29th  “General John Vessey Day".

Not all items in the estate were General Vessey’s, some were from the family. The 1971 Jeep was not from the Vessey estate however was from another military veteran.

Four Chinese Medallions. The artist of these medallions migrated from China to Laos during the Vietnam War, and they were purchased during the 1970's. We were told that the round medallions symbolize/translate to: "Most Luck" or "Good Luck", and the rectangle one is "Protect Life". The circle medallions are 1.75" dia., and the rectangle one is just over 1"x1.75". We tested the medallions, as well as the chains, two times. Once they tested positive for 10K and once they tested negative. So we do not know if these are actually gold or not, as we got different results each time. We could not find any markings on the pieces, so there are absolutely no guarantees. Please inspect in order to verify for yourself before you bid, as all bids are final.

Any registration that shows up on our fraud detection system may be placed on hold and bids removed until the user is verified. K-BID Online, Inc reserves the right to disallow anybody from bidding on its website. Cases of obvious bidding with no intent to redeem will be referred to appropriate legal authorities.

Affiliates may lower a lot reserve at any time before or after an auction closes.  If the reserve is lowered while the auction is in progress, the applicable reserve message will appear below the Next Required Bid information (Reserve Not Met or Reserve Has Been Met); the asset will sell to the high bidder if the lowered reserve amount is met. If the reserve is lowered after the auction closes, the highest bidder at auction close will receive a winning bidder invoice.

Once an auction begins its closing process, outbid notifications will not be sent.

Once a bid is placed it cannot be retracted.
