This Bernina 217n-08 is an industrial machine that makes precise zig-zags and produces a very beautiful straight stitch and also includes reverse stitching. You won't find anything better than a properly adjusted mechanically sound Bernina 217n-08 for industrial sewing such as sail-making.
They are less suited for upholstery, but great for sewing clothing. These are also prized by sail-makers. They come in 217n 8, 10 or 12 (refers to stitch width in mm). Many people that specifically use them for kite repairs use the 8 mm model. Bernina 217n-08 straight and zig-zag industrial / commercial sewing machine; made in Switzerland.
This machine has been well maintained and it sews perfectly formed straight and zig-zag stitches with forward and reverse. Stitch length is adjustable as well as the zig-zag width.
The maximum zig-zag width is 8mm for this machine. The motor runs smooth and strong, with an easy to control clutch. We have extra pulleys that can be provided if you have a desire to adjust the ratio to sew even faster. Some attachments and extras also available.
This machine is ideal for sail repair and sail making as well as for working on wetsuits and other neoprene products, heavy cloth garments, furniture or boat covers and more. Includes: the machine head, table and motor, table mounted bobbin winder, thread stand, table lamp, knee lever, extra bobbins, extra needles and a roll of thread. Please test your material on this machine and inspect or operate it. Condition: mechanically very good, physical condition shows signs of use: sewing machine head and table has some normal wear from fabric moving across surface & a few chips in paint.
