Jim Proctor’s sculptures are constructed of gathered plant materials. In addition to the Buckthorn Menace series, he creates small sculptural work, measured in inches, crafted from acorns, thorns, plant hairs, stems, winged seeds, and roots which he gathers locally and regionally.
Born in Ohio, he studied art at St. Olaf College, graduating in 1992. While at St. Olaf, Jim began to experiment with incorporating plant materials into his landscape- and plant form-inspired paintings. Ultimately, paint and paper disappeared and he found himself simply recombining plant forms to create sculptural works. Inspired in large part by his own buckthorn removal work in the natural areas of Northfield and his current home, Minneapolis, he was moved to create public artwork, adapting his methods to bring about a vision of the stark yet unnoticed changes in our natural surroundings, and to promote the cause of ecological restoration.

2- "Cocklebur Pod" Milkweed pod, acorn cap and cockleburs. Signed and dated 2009. Measures 7.5" 4.25" x 2"
3-"Bird Tail and Feet" Ash seed, birch catkins, rose thorns. Signed and dated 2010. Measures 5.5" x 7.5" x 2"

This auction is contracted and managed by an independent affiliate. By placing a bid, you agree to both the auction-specific terms listed on this page and the K-BID User Terms and Agreements.
Platform Role
K-BID Online, Inc. (“K-BID”) operates and maintains K-BID.com as a venue for independent auction companies (“Affiliates”) to conduct online auctions.

Bidder Responsibilities
By placing a bid, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and agree to comply with all applicable terms.
Inspection & Removal
Inspection dates and times are provided for every auction. Bidders are strongly encouraged to inspect items prior to bidding.
Removal day is not an inspection day.
Once an auction closes and an invoice is issued, the winning bidder is obligated to complete the purchase.
Item Condition
All items are sold “as is, where is,” with no guarantees or warranties. Buyers are responsible for their own due diligence.
Buyer’s Premium
If applicable, Buyer’s Premium caps are applied per item, not per invoice.
Auction Process
Compliance & Enforcement
Failure to comply with auction terms, including removal requirements, may result in suspension of bidding privileges.
If bidding privileges are suspended due to unpaid invoices:
Duplicate accounts will be deactivated. Suspected fraudulent activity may result in bid removal, account holds, or permanent suspension. K-BID reserves the right to refuse service to any user and may refer fraudulent behavior to appropriate authorities.
Seller Conduct
Sellers and their agents are strictly prohibited from bidding on their own items.
Sales Tax
Applicable sales tax will be collected by the affiliate managing the auction.
Shipping will be available for smaller items at the cost of shipping in addition to our processing fees. Our processing fee structure is as follows:

AFTER you have paid for your items on K-Bid, a separate invoice for the cost of shipping will be emailed to you.
We can not ship your items until you have paid your K-Bid invoice.
Smaller lots may be able to be bundled together- Inquire beforehand.
Shipping fees cannot be calculated in advance as the items have to be packaged and the package weighed and measured before shipping fees can be calculated.
Once the items have been sent to the shipping department and have been packaged for mail and you have been sent an invoice, picking up your item will no longer be an option as time and money will have been spent to package up your item/s. Thank you.
It may take up to one week after the auction closes for you to receive your shipping invoice.
Do not assume we will be available to ship your item. Call the number provided before bidding to ensure that your item is available for shipping. IF YOU WIN AN ITEM THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING, AND YOU CAN NOT PICK UP- NO REFUND WILL BE AVAILABLE.
