Uranium glass is glass which has had uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting for colouration. The proportion usually varies from trace levels to about 2% uranium by weight, although some 20th-century pieces were made with up to 25% uranium.First identified in 1789 by a German chemist, uranium was soon being added to decorative glass for its fluorescent effect. James Powell’s Whitefriars glass company in London, England, was one of the first to market the glowing glass, but other manufacturers soon realised its sales potential and Uranium glass was produced across Europe and later North America.
Uranium glass was once made into tableware and household items, but fell out of widespread use when the availability of uranium to most industries was sharply curtailed during the Cold War in the 1940s to 1990s. Most such objects are now considered antiques or retro-era collectibles, although there has been a minor revival in art glassware.
Uranium oxide has a very low solubility in most molten glasses; as a result, it usually exists in glasses as small, isolated U6+ ions. However, some glasses (notably, lead glass) have a slightly higher solubility for uranium, which can lead to the formation of U4+ ions. In the most common form of uranium glass, the uranium is in diuranate UO22+ form, giving the glass a yellow to green colour.
The colour of uranium glass ranges from yellow to green, depending on the uranium content. Uranium glass also fluoresces bright green under black light, but only a small amount of ultraviolet light is needed to make it fluoresce; sunlight will cause it to fluoresce, though not as brightly as

Late removals should not be expected. A $25 trip charge per item will be charged to schedule late removals. We cannot accommodate special dates and times for pick ups. The removal schedule is set for a specific date and time for a reason. Please review the removal schedule and make sure you are available on those dates/times. Thank you.

Inspection & Removal
Inspection dates and times are provided for every auction. Bidders are strongly encouraged to inspect items prior to bidding.
Removal day is not an inspection day.
Once an auction closes and an invoice is issued, the winning bidder is obligated to complete the purchase.
Item Condition
All items are sold “as is, where is,” with no guarantees or warranties. Buyers are responsible for their own due diligence.
Buyer’s Premium
If applicable, Buyer’s Premium caps are applied per item, not per invoice.

Failure to comply with auction terms, including removal requirements, may result in suspension of bidding privileges.
If bidding privileges are suspended due to unpaid invoices:
Duplicate accounts will be deactivated. Suspected fraudulent activity may result in bid removal, account holds, or permanent suspension. K-BID reserves the right to refuse service to any user and may refer fraudulent behavior to appropriate authorities.
Seller Conduct

Sales Tax
Applicable sales tax will be collected by the independent auction company managing the auction.
Shipping will be available for smaller items at the cost of shipping in addition to our processing fees.
