This scene, done in charcoal, shows a row of rustic wood cabins with logs in front. A bleak sky and telephone lines are also part of the landscape. Excellent perspective, leading the eye from left to right. Probably an early work of noted Canadian artist Mary Pratt. Signed by the artist. The hallmark of the art paper can be seen in the lower right corner. Single matted.
The piece is framed in a simple blond wood frame, 2" wide. There is a wire to hang from in the back.
Condition: The mat has yellowed with age, but the overall piece is in very good condition. No chips or scratches to the frame.

About Mary Pratt: Mary Frances Pratt, CC, RCA (née West, March 15, 1935 – August 14, 2018) was a Canadian painter specializing in photo-realistic still life paintings.
Mary Pratt's work focused on her relationship with domestic life in rural Newfoundland and common household items: jars of jelly, apples, aluminum foil, brown paper bags. Using photographic projections while painting, Pratt's style was bold and flamboyant, rendering her subject vivid and realistic. She was one of Canada's most significant painters.
The charcoal piece in this lot is a landscape and does not fit her typical subject matter. It is signed in a cursive style, and her later works often had a block letter signature. The piece does offer excellent perspective of a rural, possibly Canadian scene. The piece is definitely of significant age.

In the event that bidding rights are terminated due to no-show invoices, bidders MAY be reinstated at the discretion of K-BID only after a penalty fee of 20% of the unpaid invoice(s) and a reinstatement fee of $25.00 has been paid to K-BID and a scanned copy of your driver's license emailed to us. INVOICED ITEMS WILL NOT BE AWARDED. The payment is punitive and meant to deter no-shows. Duplicate bidder accounts will be deactivated when they are determined to exist. If possible and at our discretion, K-BID reserves the right to delete any bid we believe has been placed by a suspect bidder. Any registration that shows up on our fraud detection system may be placed on hold and bids removed until the user is verified. K-BID Online, Inc reserves the right to disallow anybody from bidding on its website. Cases of obvious bidding with no intent to redeem will be referred to appropriate legal authorities.
Affiliates may lower a lot reserve at any time before or after an auction closes. If the reserve is lowered while the auction is in progress, the applicable reserve message will appear below the Next Required Bid information (Reserve Not Met or Reserve Has Been Met); the asset will sell to the high bidder if the lowered reserve amount is met. If the reserve is lowered after the auction closes, the highest bidder at auction close will receive a winning bidder invoice.
Once an auction begins its closing process, outbid notifications will not be sent.
Once a bid is placed it cannot be retracted.
Shipping is available for most reasonably sized items at the cost of shipping in addition to our processing fees. Our processing fee structure is as follows:
*** If you purchase multiple lots/ items and we are able to combine them into one package you will only be charged one processing fee.
AFTER you have paid for your items on K-Bid, a separate invoice for the cost of shipping will be emailed to you with in a week.
We can not ship your items until you have paid your K-Bid invoice.
Shipping fees cannot be calculated in advance as the items have to be packaged and the package weighed and measured before shipping fees can be calculated.
Once the items have been sent to the shipping department and have been packaged for mail and you have been sent an invoice, picking up your item will no longer be an option as time and money will have been spent to package up your item/s. Thank you.
