"In 1879, the Mint made Morgan Silver Dollars with two different reverses. The first, called "Reverse of 1878 or "Second Reverse"" was a holdover from the previous year and shows a flat-breasted eagle and a flat feather on the top fletch of the arrows. The second, call "Reverse of 1879" or "Third Reverse" has an eagle with a nice, rounded breast and a slanted feather on the top fletch of the arrows. The Reverse of 1878 is considerably rarer than the Reverse of 1879, especially in high grades."
