HUGE Iconic Home of Economy Store Sign
With the transition to Runnings, we have an opportunity to offer you one last piece of local Home of Economy history! This is a massive sign that's been in front of the Grand Forks store for many decades. It's approximately 32-1/2' from the very top to the bottom of the pillar, and it is extremely heavy. A beautiful double-sided tin sign, this is believed to be from 1962. Some of the neon lights are exposed, while the letters forming "ECONOMY" have been covered by plexiglas to offer protection. The sign was restored in 2012 at a cost of about $50,000.
This sign is sitting disassembled and is in approximately 5 pieces. The top part of the sign is in two pieces, and there are the additional pillar and two heavy steel beams that reinforce the sign.
The individual measurements of the pieces are as follows:
--Main sign piece (says "ECONOMY" and has the arrow) - this is 21' wide across the word "ECONOMY" and 105" tall
--Top part of the sign - This is 189" wide and 102" tall
--Pillar - This is 183" tall from the top to the bottom of the stripes, and 214" including the steel posts
