ABOUT THE late ARTIST: Richard Sievers " What words would best describe the acrylic and oil paintings of Richard Sievers? While viewing his landscape and wildlife artwork many words come to mind. Peaceful, Distinctive. Traditional, Fresh, Poignant, Powerful. Restful, Quiet, Mystical. Perhaps, many others. This I am sure of, they are all beautiful and exhibit a very special feeling about nature. Whatever ones first thoughts, his paintings are the kind that truly "grow on you" becoming more personal, more enjoyable and pleasant as the years go by.
Mr Sievers was certainly no stranger to the outdoors. Born and raised in Minneapolis and the surrounding Lake States he holds mid-America very close. He has travelled widely from these beginnings having gone from coast to coast searching out and learning about Americas's natural beauty and its people. He also spent several years in the Far East. Mr Sievers held degrees from the University of Minnesota and Michigan State University specializing in forestry-wildlife management and education. Practically all of his adult life has been spent working and teaching about the outdoors and our natural world.
He had been a professional forester with the U.S. Forest Service, managed farms with wild and domestic animals, managed a nursery. He had his hands in the planting of literally millions of trees and shrubs. He had personally raised many thousands of different animals. In other words, there is considerable first hand experience and knowledge about the kinds of living things he paints. Before his sudden death in 2014 he taught biology including conservation and ecology in the Michigan public schools.
Mr Sievers especially appreciated the true wilderness areas of America. Over the years, he journeyed from coast to coast on filed trips visiting throughout the canoe country of the northern Lake States deep into Canada ofter serving as guide for different groups.
Mr Sievers paintings are in many private collections. There finest quality limited edition art prints are a unique way to share and expand his insight to many new homes. businesses and friends at a reasonable cost and a pleasurable investment increasing in value since his death similar to the original. Limited edition lithographs make his art
