Auction Details:

The University of Minnesota ReUse Program diverts usable materials from the campus waste stream by collecting surplus items from over 250 buildings. These materials are evaluated at the ReUse Warehouse and either repurposed by University departments or made available for public purchase, helping to reduce waste and promote sustainability across the Twin Cities Campus.

Inspection

All items are sold "as-is, where-is" with no warranties, expressed or implied. The opportunity to inspect items is provided exclusively prior to the auction close. Once a bid is won, the sale is final. We strongly encourage bidders to schedule an inspection to verify condition, as refunds will not be issued for defects discovered after the auction ends. Payments

Credit Cards only. We do not accept cash or checks. Payment must be processed in full at the time of pick-up. Payment is done in person or over the phone.

Removal

Buyers must schedule a removal appointment through the K-BID dashboard. All items must be paid for and removed by Saturday, April 18th, 2026 by 4:00 PM CDT. Failure to remove items by the deadline may result in forfeiture of the item without refund.

Removal Logistics

The University of Minnesota ReUse Warehouse provides access to a commercial-height loading dock (with leveler), a grade-level dock, and on-site forklifts. While standard loading assistance is typically included, we reserve the right to assess a labor fee of $75 per hour for any removals requiring excessive time, specialized handling, or where the buyer arrives unprepared. Potential charges for complex lots will be noted in the description whenever possible.

  • Labor: Buyers are responsible for bringing an appropriate vehicle and any labor required for loading.

  • Assistance: Our staff can provide forklift assistance for items of any weight; however, we can only provide hand-loading assistance for items weighing under 100 lbs.

  • Questions: Please email reuse@umn.edu regarding specific load-out requirements.

Shipping

Shipping is the sole responsibility and expense of the buyer. Buyers must coordinate directly with their preferred carrier. The ReUse Center must be notified in advance of any scheduled carrier pick-ups or special requirements. Please refer to the Shipping Tab for further details.

Disclaimers & Refunds

All sales are final. Once the auction has closed, the buyer is legally committed to the purchase.

Condition: While photos and descriptions are provided for reference, they do not constitute a warranty. It is the sole responsibility of the bidder to verify condition, quality, quantity, and dimensions during the designated inspection period prior to the auction close.

No Post-Auction Refunds: Refunds or returns will not be issued for defects or condition issues discovered after the auction has ended.

Liability: The UMN ReUse Program is not liable for missing or damaged items once they have been removed from the premises.

Abandonment: Items not removed by the deadline are considered abandoned. Abandoned lots are not eligible for refunds.

Release of Liability

By participating in this auction and entering the premises, you release the University of Minnesota and the ReUse Program from any and all liability for injuries, loss, or damages sustained on the auction property.

Auction Terms Addendum

This auction is contracted and managed by an independent affiliate. By placing a bid, you agree to both the auction-specific terms listed on this page and the K-BID User Terms and Agreements.

Platform Role
K-BID Online, Inc. (“K-BID”) operates and maintains K-BID.com as a venue for independent auction companies (“Affiliates”) to conduct online auctions.
Affiliates are independent entities and are not employees, agents, or representatives of K-BID. K-BID’s knowledge of individual auctions is limited to the information provided on the website.

Bidder Responsibilities
By placing a bid, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and agree to comply with all applicable terms.

  • Bidders are responsible for all activity under their account.
  • Account information and passwords must not be shared.
  • All bids are binding and may not be retracted.

Inspection & Removal
Inspection dates and times are provided for every auction. Bidders are strongly encouraged to inspect items prior to bidding.
Removal day is not an inspection day.
Once an auction closes and an invoice is issued, the winning bidder is obligated to complete the purchase.

Item Condition
All items are sold “as is, where is,” with no guarantees or warranties. Buyers are responsible for their own due diligence.

Buyer’s Premium
If applicable, Buyer’s Premium caps are applied per item, not per invoice.

Auction Process

  • Items with a reserve will not sell unless the reserve price is met.
  • Affiliates may lower reserves at any time:
    • During the auction: updated reserve status will be displayed.
    • After closing: the highest bidder may be awarded the item if the reserve is lowered.
  • At closing, items with active bidding will remain open until no bids are received for three (3) minutes.
  • Outbid notifications are not sent once an item enters the closing process.

Compliance & Enforcement
Failure to comply with auction terms, including removal requirements, may result in suspension of bidding privileges.

If bidding privileges are suspended due to unpaid invoices:

  • Reinstatement is at K-BID’s discretion
  • Requires payment of:
    • 20% penalty on unpaid invoice(s)
    • $25 reinstatement fee
  • A valid government-issued ID must be provided
  • Unpaid items will not be awarded

Duplicate accounts will be deactivated. Suspected fraudulent activity may result in bid removal, account holds, or permanent suspension. K-BID reserves the right to refuse service to any user and may refer fraudulent behavior to appropriate authorities.

Seller Conduct
Sellers and their agents are strictly prohibited from bidding on their own items.

Sales Tax
Applicable sales tax will be collected by the affiliate managing the auction.

Buyer Responsibility

Buyers are responsible for arranging and performing all tasks necessary to remove their items from the property, including packing, loading, and transportation. All items are sold "as-is, where-is."

Item Pickup

Once you have paid for your items, they will be staged at the loading dock for pickup. From this point forward, the sale is final. While standard assistance is typically provided, any additional labor required for removal may incur a fee.

Labor Rates: The University reserves the right to assess a labor fee of $75 per hour for packing, preparing, loading, or any other assistance required, including forklift labor. This fee is typically applied when removals are complicated, time-consuming, or if the buyer arrives unprepared.

Storage Fees: A storage fee of $25 per day will be applied to any item not removed within two weeks of the auction close. Items not removed within this timeframe may be considered abandoned and forfeited without refund.

Shipping

Shipping is the sole responsibility and expense of the buyer. Preparation: Upon request, the University can prepare items for individual shipment or palletize them for freight. The aforementioned labor rate of $75 per hour applies to any time spent preparing, packing, or palletizing items for shipment.

Pre-Prepared Lots: Some auction lots may be noted as "pre-palletized" in the description; in these specific cases, no additional preparation fees will be charged.

Liability: The University of Minnesota is not responsible for any damage incurred during the shipping, loading, or transportation process.

Payment Instructions

Thank you for bidding on our auction! To ensure a smooth transaction, please note our payment policies:

Credit Cards Only: We accept all major credit cards, Google Pay, and Apple Pay. We do not accept cash or checks.

Processing: Payment must be processed in full at the time of pick-up.

Invoice: Your total amount due (including the Buyer’s Premium) is listed on your invoice, accessible via the Invoice section of your K-BID Dashboard.

Tax-Exempt Purchases

The University of Minnesota cannot release tax-exempt items without a valid and completed MN ST3 Tax Exemption form on file.

  • Submission: Please email a signed copy of your MN ST3 form to reuse@umn.edu prior to arrival.

  • Payment: Once the form is verified, you will pay the Subtotal Pre-tax Amount (Bid Price + Buyer's Premium).

Item Pickup

Please refer to your invoice or the specific auction details for your scheduled removal dates.

Final Sale Reminder: All items are sold "as-is, where-is." Payment confirms your acceptance of the item in its current condition. As stated in our Inspection policy, refunds will not be issued for defects discovered after the auction has closed.

  • Labor Fees: While standard loading assistance is typically included, we reserve the right to assess a labor fee of $75 per hour for removals that require excessive time, specialized handling, or where the buyer arrives unprepared for the load-out.

  • Standard Deadline: All items must be paid for and removed by Saturday, April 18th, 2026 by 4:00 PM CDT. Failure to remove items by the deadline may result in forfeiture without refund.

  • Special Handling Extensions: For lots designated as "Hard to Move" or "Professional Rigging Required," the University may grant a reasonable extension to the removal deadline to allow for professional coordination and equipment scheduling.

    • Payment Requirement: Lots granted a removal extension must still be paid for in full by the original removal date. Payment can be coordinated over the phone via credit card if the buyer is not on-site.

    • Requirement: Extension requests must be submitted via email to reuse@umn.edu at least 24 hours prior to the standard auction deadline.

    • Approval: Extensions are granted at the sole discretion of the ReUse Coordinator and must be confirmed in writing.
